HELLO FRIENDS! We're diving back into travel content with a trip to Jules' Undersea Lodge in Key Largo, FL - a completely underwater hotel 20 feet below the surface! We saw this thing online, and decided we had to go - so we headed over to Florida and scuba'd (for the first time ever) our way down to the lodge, and then stayed there overnight. What do you think of this thing? Would you spend the night under the sea?

hi saf!!
love your vids!
Heyyyy
I would love to! Thnaks for posting more ^^
@ventilatedarea. hiiii
Honestly a series of Odd hotels just sounds so fitting for this channel. I would love that.
Yessss š¤©
Trixie motel!
Iād be here for that!
We have a snow hotel in Finland!
true
Does anyone else love how REAL this channel feels when compared to so many others? Likeā¦Safiya and Tyler are just in a league of their own when it comes to content creation. Plus Saf is soooo pretty!
i had no idea tyler made content. safiya provides all the entertainment i ever need lol
I like how they appreciate their team and do not create an illusion they work on they own on the videos (although they absolutely work really hard, of course) š
Why are u calling her Saf? Are you a relative? A friend? Get a grip
about a year ago i binged literally every video on this channel, it was a great experience lmao
@Ana Asif Why are you talking to Joshie? Are you a relative? A friend? Get a grip
The crew who run that place seem so nice and it's cool that it has family history.
Thane seems so sweet though! He didnāt mind to swim down and give them anything they needed. Not one complaint. He just did it. What a nice dude.
When you earn $1600 a day š
They did pay $2,500 a night tho lol. I would hope they would do that. Especially when it's just one set of guests a night
@Sabrina Leal yea he didn't complain because it's his job lol
That's literally his job lol
Before clicking this video, I definitely expected to see you guys in one of those high-end luxury underwater hotels. I'm pleasantly surprised by how chill and lovely this hotel and their staff are. I especially love the origin story of the hotel. I would loveeee to see this turn into a series, I'm especially interested in all the quirky asian hotels that I always read about online lol.
biuor su this is so ominous what interrupted you mid-comment!?? I hope you are okay!!!
@mjjae I guess weāll never know..
@mjjae I thought my phone glitched lmfao
Yessss
biuor su Sis r u ok???
Thane going to be the only human to survive the zombie apocalypse in luxury š
And sharky
but fr could zombies make it to the lodge?? i think its an interesting question
@sapphis lazuli to really answer that weād first have to know what kind of zombies we got. Walking Dead kinda zombies, nah, I donāt think they could get to the lodge. Ones like World War Z or The Last of Us? Maybe, they were much more robust. Hey ESclips someone make that theory video, plz š¤£
But then you got to go up to get supplies and get the equipment to get in and out which will screw you up
ā@Jaydin Giesler in fear the walking dead there were a lot of water/ocean zombies so that could be happening with twd walkers
Tyler being surrounded by the literal freshest seafood possible but ordering chicken tenders is peak comedy
I also suffer from loving the sea but not liking seafood, I would too š
@Lady_Sir_Knight Same
@Allie No shame in that at all!
@Lady_Sir_Knight same!
@Lady_Sir_Knight finally! My type of people lol
Not only does this hotel look so fun and chill, but Thane himself seems like such a cool guy. Love how everytime he dropped by, he cheerfully called out "hey guys, room service! š"
The B story to this video is Saf and Tyler desperately trying to gain Thane's approval š
Safiya and Tyler are always awesome, but honestly, I'd have loved to follow the photographers on this trip. The logistics of filming through the portholes, where they were staying, how often they came down to film - just how they were able to film everything we saw
thats j
This was so *INCREDIBLE* to watch! Like fulfilling my travel dreams without traveling! I have no money to and a sick mother to care for so I don't do anything fun. I really hope you guys do so much more because you guys are so thorough with your tours it feels like I'm actually there! Thank you Saf and Tyler!
Same here! Zero time/opportunity to go, but enjoying the view through the channel! Hope you mom feels better, or that you can have a peaceful time together :)
@ANDA Art and Design thank you so much :)
Yeah so true ! I feel like i'm the one that stayed 24 hours there. Hope you're mother gets well ā¤ļø
As someone whose family visited Key Largo yearly growing up, this made my day! This vibe is really true for the whole island - nice people, good food and lots of weird fun places. I always wanted to go to the underwater hotel so Iām glad to see what it was actually like!
if i could pick ANY influencer to do a travel series like this, it would 10000000% be this channel. Safiya's reviews are SO thorough and useful and thoughtful, she's so good at articulating her experiences, this is PERFECT!!!!
Darius Bostic what

This looks incredible but it made me feel SO claustrophobic! What an experience though!
I feel like part of this comment is missing...could be a reference to an ice hotel though
I'm very claustrophobic, so this kind of thing scares the heck out of me, but it also seems so fun. A lot of people here seem so chill, and the history is cool. I'm glad this place isn't just some giant resource eating place and seems to be just one room and it just, seems nice in that regard. I really love fish though and, although it's sad that you all didn't get to see many, its amazing just how close you get to be to them.
Hi safiya I just wanted to take the time to thank you for the effort that you put into the captions for your videos, it really melts my heart to be able to watch your videos without having to wear my hearing aid.
I think I've rewatched this video like, twelve times, no joke. It's got this real-real-good vibe that I can't describe. I think you can really tell Tyler and Safiya are having a total blast, while also being forced to slow down a bit and just enjoy themselves.
i like coming back to this video every now and then for the cozy and safe feeling i get from it. something about saf flipping through the little binder of DVDs, the plankton at the window at night, waking up to the yellow-green watery lighting, the room service delivered in a waterproof box. it's like a safe little bubble :)
I know exactly what you mean. Itās one of my comfort videos as well š
If they keep up this series it would be a great dynamic of safiya and Tylerās humor plus awkwardness of the situation. And if we get more āuncovering more of safiyas and Tylerās relationshipā that would be great. Overall this series would be very enjoyable
As a person with severe anxiety and agoraphobia I am extremely grateful that you share your travel experiences with us! ā¤ļø Your videos are always so entertaining and calming. Best wishes to you and Ty!
What is agoraphobia if you donāt mind?
@RoyalCookie It's a serious fear of leaving the house or any perceived "safe" area. The medical articles you'll find online mostly say it is a fear of having a panic attack in a place with no escape, but my personal situation has other anxieties that differ from just that one fear. I dread being outside my house because I fear getting brutally injured or assaulted. My anxiety has been compounded by ptsd from a car accident. I hope that explained it well! It would be terrifying for me to actually stay trapped in a room underwater, but it was fun to experience through this video.
@Juliette Ferrars Iām so sorry! That sounds awful!
@RoyalCookie You're so sweet! Thank you. ⤠I'm hoping to get a service dog someday to help me go out on my own.
@Juliette Ferrarsif it helps to know youāre not alone, iām extremely agoraphobic too, but more for health anxiety reasons.
itās pretty tmi so iāll try to keep it, not descriptive.
but i had a stomach bug about a year and a half ago and that made, toilet trips fun shall we say.
since then iāve had a stupidly strong fear whenever i then get dodgy poops (lol sorry), and iām forever terrified of it happening in public, even more so if i donāt have a toilet in reach. so apart from doctors visits so they can track my weight (as anxiety also ruins my appetite), iāve left the house about once or twice in the last year.
sorry to make it about me, i just find it comforts me knowing people are in the same situation, so i thought it may help you too. i hope you get your service dog ā¤
This video hits different post oceangate š¬
ACTUALLY THO
Thane clearly loves what he does! We love to see it!āŗļø
You know, nothing screams safiya more than international trips with weird attractions. This video hits different post oceangate .
Looking for another person who immediately thought this was a little crazy post-oceangate. The Titan gave me even more of a fear of the water and as cool as this is, I think I'd go crazy
Wasnāt expecting ācollege dorm inside a nuclear bunkerā to be the underwater hotel aesthetic. Love it.
To me it looked more like a ship, including the complex toilet that needs to be operated correctly to not flood the boat.
š¤£
Wow, 1.3k likes in 8 hours and I didnāt get a single notification - until Saf liked it (š¤) Otherwise I wouldnāt have ever known!?

3:19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.
This whole idea is so fascinating and feels like a sci-fi movie! As much as I love the idea Iād enjoy going there but would be absolutely terrified to stay there
Safiya and Tyler, you guys are seriously legendary-tier ESclips content creators. ESclips should be honored you guys are posting in their platform. Amazing content as always!! Love lots
Hi

boy this got reccomended at the WRONG time lol
yup šš
FRR
š
Why is this a bad time?
@Indie Kaye with the recent Ocean gate news. Y'know the submarine implosion
I would LOVE this as a series! Living vicariously through travel youtube videos and love cool hotels overall. As always: great content and just love how you both present it all. Such a joy to watch
I would love if this was a series for interesting hotels!!!
Safiya!!! My grandfather is one of the scientists that lived in that lodge! I had no idea they had a tribute like this and itās so cool!! Iām sure heād be very excited to see that people are doing homage to their work :,)
This is the coolest comment ever š±
wow that's so cool, props to him and team
that is so cool
Omg i hope she sees this comment
So they likely knew Thane's dad?!?
I like this series! Also, the way you guys treated the staff at this hotel was kind and friendly unlike most influencers. That is so awesome!
I love this hotel. It has such a nostalgic vibe. It reminds me of taking a beach vacation in the late 90s/early 2000s. So lovely.
After watching the Vegas hotel review videos, having random and badass hotel reviews from you and Tyler would be perfect. I know there will always be an honest review from yāall.
I keep coming back to this. Thereās something so utterly comforting about it. I love it. Thank you
Dude safiya is like the comfort youtuber ever. Like i can't imagine life without these videos. They bring so much comfort to me, especially when im anxious and/or sick which happens a lot. Thank you for existing Safiya
lol that was amazing. my ears are terrible in planes so im afraid of scuba diving and probably wouldnt particularly stay here myself, but it was great to see your experiences. I would definitely watch a series of you and Tyler just trying a bunch of cool/weird hotel experiences. Especially that side of the mountain one. Also I love Shark Tale and think its hilarious they provide so many sea themed movies. haha
I love how these 2 have millions of subscribers and have been doing videos for years, yet they are still down to earth and non-pretentious.. Also, Thane steals the show here. What a chill, decent guy!
It sounds so creepy after that submarine incident, i wouldn't be able to do it now even if it was for free
PLEASE START THIS SERIES! Love all the ratings and price info at the end! (:
I am proud of yaāll. Iām not scared of things above ground but water stuff scares meš
You know, nothing screams safiya more than international trips with weird attractions
Yeah! And even though traveling like that is a huge privilege, she stays humble and grateful instead of developing affluenza. We love to see it!
ikr
@BeeThatsMe yea
This wasnāt international. Itās domestic.
THATS SO TRUEEEEEEE š
I love you choose this place, and not a luxury one!!
Just found your channel through your Sweden trip to my home country!
I LOVE this episode and I hope the whole season does well. This was so fun to watch and now I know somewhere new I want to visit.
something about this lady just makes me interested in whatever she talks about.
Charisma - 10/10
Pls make it a series!! Your videos are always so creative, fun and well produced. I always watch you to relieve stress you guys seem so genuine it actually feels like I'm there experiencing it everything with you š„°
I love your stuff, but the travel videos hit the hardest for sure! I love seeing the two of you explore anywhere and everywhere! Hands down some of the best content out here.
Safiya as someone who has auditory processing issues you are one of the few ESclipsrs I donāt have to turn the captions on because you enunciate your words well and I appreciate it so much
oh my god iāve noticed that too!! sheās so well spoken
this is so true and i didnt even notice
And if you do need captions, they're superb! They're also perfect and perfectly timed.
Holy shit, you're right! I didn't even realize that I never had to rewatch a part due to not being able to understand someone!
itās the former theatre kid in her lol
Safiya and Tyler kudos to you for doing the night in the hotel. My anxiety went though the roof and this is now on my bucket list.
That is pretty cool! I think a unique and unusual hotels series would be awesome. And I LOVE the underwater merman burlesque show idea!!!! I feel like that is something I need to see at some point in my life!
I LOVE this cool/weird/unique hotel series idea. Maybe throw in a haunted/paranormal hotel on Halloween or something?
the trivia on the hotel and how Thaneās dad was involved was SO COOL !!!
I hope this becomes a series!!! I love seeing travel videos, and the realness that you guys bring to the way you film/edit/present on camera is really endearing and interesting. Please keep it up!!!
Gotta say, that this is likely the most secure hotel you could find. Like who's going to scuba just to rob a rather small non luxury hotel
Especially when it would be even harder to get anything like a laptop, camera, or most other electronics out without taking a lot of time to properly seal them or have to risk ruining all those items.
Scooby Doo villain?
And the only entrance and exit is on camera
I meannn, itās $3k/night. Even though it doesnāt look luxury, it definitely is a luxury to stay there.
ā@Calie cat
I love this new series can't wait to see more!š
Yes! Please make this an entire series! So fascinating. I'm too broke to travel, so I'd love to learn more and love vicariously through your experiences lol. This was fascinating, definitely really unique.
What a cool start to a fun series - I love seeing different hotels! Also Thane is like the coolest name ever.
I love odd hotels I've always wanted to stay in one you guys should definitely make this a series! š
She is an amazing youtuber putting so much effort and care in each video š
I'd love to see this become a series-- it's less of a "look at where I went and what I can afford" and more "look at this place/opportunity and all the people who operate it" which is VERY rare from a travel series and exactly what I want to see!
You make a good point
Yes! I love that Saf and Ty really highlighted the people working there
Exactly!
So cool right!
This. I especially loved seeing shots of Thane's dad. If they do more travel videos, I would love info on the people who run the places.
I'd love to see the hotel series! This was such a fun video! š
i would LOVE to see this turned into a series
I really enjoyed this episode! I definitely want to see more crazy hotels!
Iād definitely recommend getting scuba certified if anyone goes to Florida or Hawaii. If your unsure you can always do a discover scuba to test it out before going for your open water certification.
so i watched this video about six months ago and thought it was cool but i actually just went to the marine lab right next to next to it. they are owned by the same people and was such a cool experience and i am so grateful my school was able to take us there. we actually got to snorkel above the hotel.
The fact that Thane's dad was one of the original scientists to live in that was probably the coolest thing about this video. I can't imagine what it was like to watch his dad most likely be so passionate about something to then make him want to follow in his footsteps!! Seriously an amazing video as always, can't wait to see what we get next. :)
I can only imagine this families love for being in the water. To not only follow in your father's footsteps but to commit to transporting people and their things to the room, youd have to really enjoy swimming
thane looks just like his dad too!!
Loved the family connection! It definitely made it more special
wasn't his dad one of the people who built it, not one of the scientists?
@Denton Lister admittedly, my short term memory recollection is not the best and one can never guess when theyāll be one of the most liked comments under something so the exact semantics may be off but I think the important part is 1. you know what I mean and 2. that his dad was someone passionate enough about the water to inspire his son into adulthood. š¤
Iāve always enjoyed how not scripted the the vids you guys make are š
It makes it more fun to watch the vid with what would normally be the bloopers actually included as they happen
I would absolutely love a hotel-series :D
such a cool experience! binging all your travel vids. pristine content! šalso dying at safiya apologizing for eating shrimp while being underwater lollš
Love this and very excited to see you guys continue this series!!
Definite yes to a whole series of odd hotels. If you make it back to Japan, there are so many crazy themed love hotels. There's even one with a slide in the room (watched it on a Tokyo Creative video).
When you shined the light out, you served up some plankton for dinner š
And the avenging shrimp. Brave little dude.
I wonder if they can setup a live streaming camera on the top of the hotel so you can watch the fish that are swimming right above you. I mean, they already have wifi so they could make it work; there's a manatee underwater Livestream so it can be done.
I love that rather than being super luxury basically wealth porn, this feels like an adventure in cool and interesting things that are kind of attainable. Complete with history and research into it. Deeefinitely would love to see this as a series!
šÆšÆšÆ
Yes! I like that this is a cool place where I can go with my boyfriend. Being able do something adventurous and learn too!! It sucks when people go to super bougie places and all they do is go shopping or eat at restaurants where you canāt even get a reservation until 2025. -.-
esclips.com/video/9e4KR9qbbFk/vĆdeo.html Finally it's here.
i mean its over a grand a night
@ruby 666 you get her point though
honestly kudos to yāall being able to go down into this hotel i donāt think my anxiety would let me. but this seems so freakin cool i wonder if i could make myself do it lol
I watch this to help me sleep in a good way lol I find it so calming with the water and Sofiaās voice is very soothing for me I look forward to more videos from you !!!!
I love watching your videos especially at night when I can't sleep.
Hey @SafiyaNygaard ! You & Tyler should totally continue your weird hotel series while youāre here in Canada šØš¦. By beginning with staying at the Fantasy Land Hotel Inside of West Edmonton Mall in Alberta. They have themed rooms there, plus you could do a 24hrs in one of North Americaās largest malls. They also have a theme park, a skating rink, and a water park. Plus you might as well continue your journey and stay in BC at Sparkling Hill. They have one the worlds only cryogenic chambers that goes down to -200C/-328F. My husband and I did it once and it totally reset my hormones and stuff. Although it did take us 2 hours to warm up again. š Sending love & safe travels from here in BC šØš¦š.
I truly enjoy your vids. They're interesting and light and you two are hilarious and cute. It's refreshing with all the terrible things going on in the world. Sorry for the bummer! But you make a difference for me so thank you!
I can't get over how much I enjoy Safiya's thoroughness when creating one of her videos. She credits every single person involved without fail and is so informative with every aspect. We love you Safiya!
The video was awesome as always, but personally? Being in a rusty metal bunker looking at murky green water? Sis, not worth it.

@HyTricksy it was a pretty awesome experience for them. They seemed to really enjoy it. I personally could not stay 24 hours underwater like that without a quick escape lol. But I see the appeal
I've been avoiding this video cause of the under water phobia shit I have. Just the thumbnail gave me the creeps. But I'm finally watching it. Hopefully I can watch it all the way through. But a hotel series with you guys??!! Yesss. I watch a pretty cool hotel channel and they are the absolute best.
Think I would freak out myself doing underwear hotel. Seems like it be cool. But I think I go for the walk in underwater hotel room before Iād do swim in
absolutely loved this! thanks!
truly hope this becomes a series š
Please do more hotel reviews. It's fitting and I'll binge every second of it.
Ooo i love hotel reviews! I would love this to be a series
I would love to see more of a travel serjes from you guys, your chill funny vibe visiting new places is such a treat
I really like that you guys picked this place over some luxury underwater hotel. This really felt like an adventure and an experience. I'd love to see more travel videos of you guys visiting unique hotels.
Exactly what I was gonna say! This is cooler to watch
This was over $2000 for one night. What do luxury ones cost?
Itās still definitely expensive lol but it feels a lot more authentic than those other hotels
As someone with claustrophobia I'd be a nightmare to vacation with here.
@Saint Shion č©©é³šš¤ Same. NO WAY would I do this
I read about this place ages ago on wikipedia, wild to see someone actually go down into it! Totally forgot about it until I saw you mention the fact it was for marine researchers in the 70s. That rang some bells, but apparently 'underwater hotel in Florida' did not XD
YES!!! This is absolutely the next series we didn't know we needed!! I would love the hotel series š¤©š¤©š¤©
as an architecture major, this is super interesting to me. amazing video safiya and tyler!!
Would love to see more weird hotels. Will defiantly want to add to my bucket list.
This would be an AMAZING series! You guys should go to the hotel Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort in Finland. It is a glass igloo where you get to look at thr Northern Lights all night! If I had thr money and ability to take that much time off of work, I would totally take myself, partner, and daughters to stay here and to visit other really cool hotels around the world.
i really hope this becomes a series, safiya and weird hotels are like the perfect combo š¤©š¤©
Jesus Christ died for our sins, rose from the dead, and gives salvation to everyone who has faith in him. True faith in Jesus will have you bear good fruit and *drastically* change for the better! Those led by the Holy Spirit do not abide in wickedness.
God is three in one; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit! Bless him!
As I am led by the Holy Spirit, nothing I state is a lie, but the truth of God. Anyone who tells you differently is misinformed or a liar. They do not know God, nor led by him.
When you trust in God and cast your cares (worries, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts) upon him, they will be NO MORE!
Know that there is power in the name Jesus Christ! His name casts out demons and heals!
The world is wicked, evil, and of the devil. I too, was a wicked sinner of the world before I opened my heart to God. I am living proof of God's work and fruitfulness! He is an active God who hears the prayers of his! God's children are set apart (holy) and righteous. The devil is a liar that comes to steal, to kill, and to destroy; that includes your relationship with God.
Agreed!
Eating ribs in curious hotels seriesš
Agreed!!!ššš
If you make this a series you could have fans meet ups at the different locations for your international fans š„°
As a scuba diver the nice slow assent after really calmed my nerves and the no fly advice was good. I know 20ft (6.1m) doesnāt seem deep but we normally do our decompretion/safety stop at 6m so you could definitely have degassing issue if you stayed for longer and came up really fast. However there is a chamber in the Florida key so if you did somehow get the bends you would be close to a place that can help and the doctors there should be familiar with bend related problems.
This place looks so cool and relaxing š„°š„°
I really like how yāall pre record videos like basically manifesting whatās gonna happen positively!! I remember watching all your videos when I was 17 Iām 21 now and I appreciate you!!
I'd kill to watch a video series of this!! Maybe like once or twice a year instead though, since it's crazy expensive
I hope this becomes a series I'm obsessed with interesting hotels as well!!
*esclips.com/video/mCfYi7634rU/vĆdeo.html*
Finally it's here after so long
just watch ryan trahan
kara & nate!
Same!
Same here. also nice icon, ratch is my favorite from that show!
I love this idea. I would love to see more.
I would love a series of staying at unusual hotels!!
I'd love to see you at the ice hotel in Finland. Yes, a hotel made with real ice & snow happens every winter in Finland. Not to mention the glass igloos made for viewing the northern lights from your bed š
Both my hubby and I said NOPE! We'd be far too paranoid about the tank leaking or whatever and yeah, not comfortable being underwater LOL.
